⏰ Registration closes: 10th June 2026 — Don't miss the deadline!

East Pye Solar – Register as an Interested Party

This stage involves completing an online or paper form providing your name and contact details and a Relevant Representation which is a summary of the points you would like to comment on. When you have completed this you will receive a reference number.

All members of a household should register using their own email addresses.

It is recommended that you limit your Relevant Representation to around 500 words although the online form will accept up to 10,000. If you wish to submit pictures with your representation you will need to email them to [email protected] requesting they are added to your representation and quoting your Relevant Registration reference number. You can also add further text in this way after you have registered.

The above must be completed before 10th June 2026.

The submission of a valid Relevant Representation will ensure that you are registered as an Interested Party and as such you will be able to participate in the Examination. You will be able to submit a further Written Representation by the Deadline that will be set out in the Examination Timetable at a later date. This can expand on the matters included in your Relevant Representation.

Instructions on how to register for online or paper applications, see the ‘Where to Register’ section at the bottom of this page.

Below you will find:

  • Tips for completing your Registration.
  • Relevant Issues you may wish to address.
  • Recommended issues for objection for each individual EPS proposed solar site in the form of a download. Choose from a word document or .pdf format by clicking on either of the icons below. These documents contain detailed information that will help you compile your objection.

NOTE: Download specific information about the individual solar sites that affect you or that you have concerns about. Select your preferred format.

Important Note:
  • Anyone with an interest in the area may register.
  • You do not need to live locally to participate.
  • Only your name and comments will be published on the Inspectorate's website.

Tips for Completing Your Registration

✔ Keep it specific and factual

Focus on clear planning concerns supported by facts, locations, examples, or evidence. Avoid general slogans or purely emotive statements.

There is no strict word limit, but submissions of around 500 words are recommended. Detailed evidence can be submitted later during the Written Representation stage (if asked).

We recommend ticking the 'yes' box in Q4-1 to Q4-4. This strengthens our collective response but does not commit you to anything. (Does not apply to the online form)

✔ Make it locally relevant

Explain how the proposal affects the area, including concerns that:

  • The area is already oversubscribed with Solar and Battery Storage (BESS) developments and there is no benefit to the local community.
✔ Use your own words

Avoid copying template responses. The Planning Inspectorate places greater weight on individual submissions.

✔ Land Interest

If you own or occupy land affected by the proposal, state your interest clearly (e.g. owner, tenant or occupier).

Relevant issues you may wish to address include:

  • Biodiversity & Ecology Impacts on wildlife, habitats, and ecological networks. The area is recognised as highly important for Barbastelle bats, a highly protected species with critical breeding populations associated with ancient woodland, meadows, rivers, and streams. Their presence is acknowledged within the developer's DCO submission.
  • Hydrology Potential impacts on chalk streams, aquifers, private water supplies, drainage, and flooding risk.
  • Cultural Heritage & Local Community Effects on listed buildings, conservation areas, historic landscapes, and the cumulative pace and scale of change affecting rural communities.
  • Landscape & Visual Impact Visibility, design, screening, and impacts on countryside character.
  • Noise Impact of continuous noise from inverters and substations: both low-level and audible intrusive noise on receptors in homes and public footpaths (PROW).
  • Transport & Access Construction traffic, routing, congestion, and highway safety.
  • AIL Routing (Abnormal Indivisible Loads) Access, damage to listed buildings and village features.
  • Glint and Glare Possible effects on aviation, railways, roads, and residential amenity.
  • Land Use & Agricultural Quality Loss of Best and Most Versatile (BMV) agricultural land.
  • Environmental Impacts Noise, vibration, air quality, drainage, and water management.
  • Socio-Economic Factors Impacts on local communities, local businesses, employment, and the rural economy.
  • Security & Fencing Lighting, CCTV, fencing, and long-term site security.
  • Decommissioning Removal of infrastructure and restoration of land at the end of the project lifecycle.
