Protecting Our Wildlife

The South Norfolk Claylands is an environment of extreme ecological sensitivity. It is home to multiple European Protected Species which coexist in a complex ecosystem across the landscape and the River Tas, protected Chalk Stream. The area also represents a vanishingly rare pre-modern agricultural landscape which supports assemblages of rare botany.

The area is also of national importance for the quality and quantity of its pre-1750s agricultural and rural architecture, much of it timber-frame, clay lump or flint medieval buildings. Over 300 Listed Buildings are impacted by the East Pye Solar scheme.

The East Pye Solar Scheme is completely inappropriate for this landscape.

  • Loss of habitat connectivity
  • Impact on protected species
  • Industrialisation of green belt
